CentOS ISO Build Process

Hello the list,

For a personal use, I would be intersted in creating my own custom CentOS ISO.

For that, I would love to use the build process used for the the official ISOs generation.

Is the documentation about this release process and the relative tools and configuration files are available and public for CentOS 7 ?

If yes, where is it possible to find them ?

I found data on seven.CentOS.org and livecd-tools but I’m not sure if it is the real used process.

Thanks for your answers

Regards, Olivier Bonhomme

  • I was toying with the idea as well but personally decided it would be better to just create and maintain a private repo that updates the CentOS packages I want to modify.

To make a custom spin I would have to maintain such a repo anyway, so since none of my mods involve booting hardware not already supported, installation of a yum repo file followed by a yum update is a lot less work and for all practical purposes the end result is the same.

That being said, I would like to see the build process too. I know it has been documented before but I don’t know if the current build process it.
