I just spent a couple of unnerving hours trying to make Dropbox work on CentOS 6.6.
Is there a way that
1. Actually works?
2. Doesn’t include jumping through burning loops?
Cheers from the sunny south of France,
Niki

The procedure described on https://www.dropbox.com/install?os=lnx has worked for me on several occasions before on CentOS 6.0 >> 6.5. Haven’t done it on 6.6 yet, but I doubt it’d be any different.
What problems have you run into??
FYI It works for me on CentOS 7 when I used it last week.
Hello Andrew,
Me too, no problem here.
Regards,
That procedure works for me up to and including 6.6. It would indeed be helpful if the OP listed the particular problems they encountered.

Remember you can install already downloaded rpm’s with yum as well, it’ll download any dependencies you’re possibly missing that Dropbox requires. ;-)
Hi,
just use the Fedora RPM from Dropbox. It’s working fine. The files included and a German posting is at
I did notice when I installed Dropbox for my mother on Linux Mint 17, that the program spent quite a while preparing a file list. It took the better part of an hour for barely 500 MB of file-data.
I’ll try this in a virtual CentOS 6.6-install. I’ll do an Arnie.
Ran into the same problem. An error log in .xsession-errors was mentioned so I had a look there. Is anybody able to make heads or tails of the below?
Thanks.

Nope!
Hello,
Since I-do-not-know-when (but this is recent) I cannot see the dropbox panel item anymore and xsession_errors shows the isn’t/is already running message too. Starting dropbox from command-line shows the same. Apparently, the dropbox client could be running in an more or less hidden way: `ps` shows it, and I noticed some *syncing* (looked at my dropbox account on the web), but there is no panel item anymore.
Strange!
Regards,
hi I have installed dropbox with sources, but can you tell me how can remove completely now it?
thanks
