Is anyone else having any issues with CS8 kernel-4.18.0-358.el8.x86_64?

The symptom I’m seeing is not getting the kde screen locker password prompt to show so I can’t unlock my screen.

I have already rolled back the recent qt5 and xorg updates.

Booting into the previous kernel – 4.18.0-348.7.1.el8_5.x86_64 fixes it.

No idea what might actually be causing it.

  • I’d like to echo this. `kscreenlocker_greet` doesn’t show a password prompt and can’t be unlocked, `loginctl unlock-session` just doesn’t work, sddm just stops at a black screen and never displays the login prompt. Backed up to 348 and everything works fine.

  • I just loaded the latest kernel this evening. I’m getting the same results. It gets as far as the splash screen with the swirly thing and just locks up. No login prompt.

  • That is the 4.18.0-365.el8 kernel? The last few have had issues specifically with KDE. Troy Dawson may have figured something out.

    Troy?

At least I know he cares about KDE and has been looking at it.

  • OK .. we don’t know why this is happening. The bugzilla entries are where it will get resolved. This is also an issue in RHEL.
